Look out for noticeboard changes! (August 2008)

Changes to the regulations relating to employers’ liability insurance certificates and the mandatory health and safety poster are due to come into force in October 2008- the insurance certificate; and April 2009- the poster. Employers will be able to display their certificates online and will no longer need to keep them for a 40 year period. The style of the mandatory poster will be altered though the requirement to display it will not be removed. Corgi out, Capita in (August 2008)

The HSE has announced that it has selected Capita as its preferred bidder to run the new registration scheme for gas installers from the 1st of April 2009. The new scheme will deliver lower fees for gas installers together with a suite of actions aimed at improving consumer gas safety and reducing burdens on gas installers. Have you undertaken your Fire Risk Assessment?  (July 2008)

Businesses still don't seem to understand their responsibilities under new fire safety legislation which came into force in October 2006. Too many still think that, because they once had a fire certificate and their circumstances haven't changed, they are still complying with fire safety law. This is not the case.
