Prince Charles briefed on green business
plans
Welsh business leaders have briefed Prince Charles on the
measures they are taking to boost sustainability and environmental
awareness in the workplace.
The Prince met the leaders during a tour of the country in which
he aims to raise awareness of the technologies, techniques and
principles that exist to make working and living environments more
sustainable.
Representatives from Welsh companies, including Cardiff Airport,
Smoke Control Systems and Wales and West Utilities, all had the
chance to speak to the Prince about what they have been doing to
reduce the environmental impact of their premises and
practices.
The chief executive of Wales and West Utilities, Graham Edwards,
said that no-one is exempt from playing a part in tackling climate
change.
"With the current economic climate, the global issue of climate
change has never been more important," he said. "I share Prince
Charles’ view that business has a big role to play in leading the
agenda."
He said it was crucial for businesses to be provided with the
sufficient information and knowledge to be able to implement
changes within their own organisations.
The Prince's visit preceded a workshop at the National Botanic
Garden of Wales for individuals who have made outstanding
contributions to improving the environmental impact of their
workplaces.
