Firms shortlisted for Scottish environmental awards
Some of Scotland's most eco-friendly businesses have been
shortlisted for top environmental awards.
The Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES)
Awards 2010 aim to recognise businesses of all sizes and sectors
who are employing sustainable working practices whilst also making
significant financial savings.
Twenty-five companies have been shortlisted for the awards -
which are now in their eleventh year - and have received site
visits from the awards' judges over the past three months.
Awards will be presented for Best Management to small (less than
50 employees), medium (between 50 and 250 employees) and large
(more than 250 employees) companies.
Other categories include Best Service, Best Micro Company, Best
Product, Best Process and the Special Award for Energy Efficiency,
supported by the Scottish Government.
Alan Farquhar, VIBES chair said, "Now in their eleventh year,
the VIBES Awards continue to attract high calibre entries from
across the country. The competition increases every year and the
shortlisted companies should be proud to have reached this stage in
the competition.
"The shortlisted companies have shown great commitment to their
environmental initiatives and are making financial savings through
reduced resource use," he added.
The winners will be announced on 1 December at the Radisson Blu
Hotel, Glasgow. VIBES winners are then eligible to enter the
European Business Awards for the Environment.
