Changes to F-Gas competence requirements
Environmental update 03/08/2011
From 4th July 2009 it became a legal
requirement for all businesses that install, maintain or service
stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning and/ or heat pump
equipment containing or designed to contain F-Gas refrigerants to
obtain an F-Gas Company Certificate. From 4th
July 2011 all businesses must hold a Full Company
Certificate; the F-Gas interm Certification expired on
3rd July 2011. Businesses which missed the deadline
should apply now for a Stationary Equipment Qualification Company
Certificate (Full Certificate).
To obtain a Full company certificate, businesses must:
- Employ sufficient numbers of personnel holding a full personnel
qualification to cover expected volume of in-scope activities;
and
- Have the necessary tools and procedures for the personnel to
carry out the in-scope activities that require certification.
It is a criminal offence to carry out the above
activities without a Company Certificate.
Those businesses who require their air conditioning equipment to
be serviced/ maintained should check that the Company carrying out
the work has the relevant certificate.
