Irene Shedden
Employment Law Consultant
Irene joined Mentor in 2001 having worked for 18 years in generalist Human Resources, ten years of which were on a freelance basis working in both the private & public sectors.  Her specialism is in recruitment and she has considerable experience in assessment centre recruitment.  She has also developed and delivered training on all aspects of recruitment to line managers and others involved in recruiting staff.

Mandi Garforth
Employment Law Consultant
Mandi joined Mentor in 2004 before which she worked in various human resources roles for 16 years in different sectors including manufacturing, rail services, call centres and transport & distribution.  Mandi has had a great deal of experience in dealing with high volume HR issues including discipline and grievance, absence management, and implementation and development of HR policies and procedures.  Mandi has developed and delivered a number of training events for clients based on these topics.  She also holds a postgraduate diploma in Personnel & Development.

Sue Burnett
Employment Law Consultant

Sue joined Mentor in 2003 having previously worked in Human Resources for five years.  She has designed, run and advised on training courses and seminars for Mentor clients from a variety of sectors including manufacturing, sales and call centres on Appraisal, Managing Discipline, Essentials of Employment Law, Diversity, and Family Friendly Policies. 

Steve Houghton
Employment Law Consultant
Steve has over 10 years experience operating in senior HR management and training practitioner roles within the services sector and retail. Prior to joining Mentor his previous roles included Training & Development Manager for Forte Posthouse Hotels which involved developing strategy and design and delivery of a wide range of training courses. He has also worked as a regional and divisional HR manager in large and medium sized organisations.

‘H’ has worked in Human Resources since 1995 with experience in all aspects of Employment Law.  ‘H’ has developed his career in both the Manufacturing and the Service sector dealing with issues such as large scale redundancies, implementing EU directives, harassment and bullying cases.  He has developed and delivered training on all aspects of Human Resources and has a particular interest in equalities and diversity issues.

Rhona Ulyett
Employment Law Consultant
Rhona joined Mentor in 2001 before which she worked for 11 years in Human Resources for the motor manufacturing and food industries and latterly for the call centre arm of a major retail chain.  She has run in-house training on discipline and grievance, absence management and appraisal skills for a wide range of employees from Directors to shop floor supervisors.

Patricia Laird
Employment Law Consultant
With 20 years experience in corporate HR both general and specialist areas, Patricia has developed and delivered training at various levels from induction to management skills.  Her background includes work in the manufacturing, finance and service sectors working with staff from new entrants to senior management.

Nick Soret
Employment Law Consultant
Nick Soret is a qualified solicitor and has been with Mentor Services as an employment law consultant for over five years.  He has developed and delivered training on data protection, transfer of undertakings, redundancies, age discrimination and the legal framework.

Yvonne Johnstone
Employment Law Consultant
Yvonne Johnstone joined Mentor in 2003 as an Employment Consultant in the South West. She has spent over 30 years in Human Resource Management roles in both the private and public sectors which included some roles in a Housing Association.  She has experience in all aspects of training from training needs analysis, preparation of tailored training packages to delivery of individual courses.  After gaining her B.A. at Exeter University she continued with her professional qualifications through the CIPD and later at the University of Portsmouth.

Yvonne Banks LLB (Hons)
Employment Law Consultant
Yvonne has worked in HR since 1991 gaining experience in a variety of roles within the HR function.  Prior to Mentor she worked with various blue chip companies where latterly she managed teams of HR Advisors specialising in integrated Absence Management/Occupational Health as well as managing a national team of Consultants who case managed Grievance and Discipline cases.  Yvonne has designed and delivered a wide variety of training material across the whole spectrum of managerial spans of control from induction of first line managers to senior strategists across different functions in the companies.

Andrew Stone
Employment Law Consultant
Andrew Stone joined Mentor in January 2004. Andrew works closely with clients providing bespoke and packaged training courses on discipline, basic, advanced and litigious employment law areas for small, medium and large groups on specific areas of development for line manager, senior management and Directors.  He has a law degree and was called to the Bar as a Barrister in 1997.

Gareth James
Litigator
Gareth is an experienced employment lawyer working with Mentor since 2002.  He now works as a specialist litigator, representing Mentor's clients in Employment Tribunals cases.  Prior to this, Gareth worked as a solicitor in private practice, engaged in both employment law and civil litigation.  He has delivered both internal and external courses on a variety of employment law topics including disciplinary, absence, working time, transfer of undertakings to name a few.
