April 2019
Hello there!
We’re excited to announce that, as a Mentor customer, you can now get disciplinary advice through our online advice portal, Step!
With the current political gridlock never far from our minds, dealing with business uncertainty is our main theme this month. Employment Law & HR consultant Mandi Silverwood gives us her thoughts. We also want to reassure you about the advice we give in the light of Brexit – here’s a reminder of the email which the Head of Mentor, Gerald Ancia, has sent to all clients about this. There’s also important new guidance on right-to-work checks and Brexit.
Perhaps with all of this in mind, April is Stress Awareness Month. It’s the biggest single cause of workplace absence, so tackling it will reap business as well as personal benefits. Senior Consultant Ali Hixon gives her insight on the role managers can play.
28th April is World Day for Safety and Health at Work. This year’s theme is the future, and as job roles change and workforces are increasingly sedentary, casualised and home-based, it’s clear worker health will be increasingly important. Senior consultants Steve Campbell and Pete Nicholls consider the issues.
Finally, we have news on another increase in employment tribunal claims.
